We had never been in Sant Antoni before we came to live here. Now we like it so much that we want to share it with you. That’s why we have thought up Marakasa, a lesbian owned B&B in a typical village house three hundred years old. A hideout between the sea and the mountains, private and shared at the same time, where you can spend a few days close to everything that Sant Antoni, the Empordà and the Costa Brava can offer you; great places to be at any time of the year.

Marakasa is located on the second street from the seashore, a couple of minutes away from
the beautiful Sant Antoni and Palamós bay, were you can enjoy kilometres clear water
beaches. Running beside the sea, it’s the wonderful promenade of Sant Antoni that brings you
to Palamós, where you can imbibe yourself in the real fishing atmosphere of the Costa Brava.
The promenade also takes you to the hidden coves typical of the Costa Brava.

Northbound from Marakasa, you can enjoy great walks on foot or bike through the flatland
and medieval village of Calonge. Pretty soon the flatland starts rising toward the wonderful
and wild natural park of Les Gavarres, a mountain range with lush woodland of holm oaks, cork
oaks and some pines. There you can walk or drive to many secluded places: for example, the
small hermitage of Fitor, a Romanic construction that appears suddenly in a wide field lost in
the middle of dense forest.

Moreover, if you feel like going partying or shopping, Platja d’Aro is only 4 kilometres down the
road, and there you can find bars, discos, shops and a whole lot more. The great city of
Barcelona is only an hour by car and a little more by bus. Girona, another wonderful city is
even closer. And there are many more interesting places that you can enjoy any time of the
year.

We have four different rooms: three doubles on suite and a fourth one with a sitting room
attached, were up to four people can lodge. In case of need, we have the useful folding bed.
All rooms have free Wi-Fi and central heating. From a green courtyard, you access the Earth
room and also the upper part of the house, where the other three rooms are located: Forest, Sea and Fire, surrounding a open terrace: a shared space, with a few tables, where you can sit,
chat, drink and eat, and, in the summer, enjoy the cooler temperature of the night.

A typical Catalan breakfast, with “pa amb tomàquet” (tomato pulp spread on bread, oil and
garlic), helps to start the day on the right foot. In addition, there is a small kitchen, with a
fridge, where you can cook your lunch or dinner if you don’t feel like going out.
