Hooppells Torr, Kingston, Devon

A boutique coastal bed and breakfast

In the coastal village of Kingston, set in the rolling hills of South Devon and close to some of its most beautiful beaches, sits the 18th-century farmhouse of Hooppells Torr. All of which is located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The garden is yours to share and explore. An acre of lovingly manicured gardens provide an abundance of ever-changing herbaceous borders, a camellia walk and a lovely pergola draped with roses, clematis and wisteria. A further five acres of grounds give beautiful views of Dartmoor, a spring-fed pond, fruit orchards, over 300 native trees and mown paths for leisurely strolls to enjoy them all. These are teeming with wildlife, too, including birds, butterflies, dragonflies and – if you’re really lucky – local deer.

Our stunning heated, indoor swimming pool is available for guests to use daily (7am-8pm) throughout the peak season, May-September. With its 8-metre length and the softness of salt water this is just the spot for a relaxing soak or invigorating early morning swim. Fluffy bathrobes and bath slippers are placed in each room for guests to use in their room and in the pool area.

The larger of the two rooms, Hydrangea echoes a thoroughly modern English country style and enjoys wonderful views of the garden. With a luxurious king-sized bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, goose feather bedding and two deep, upholstered armchairs, this is a large and indulgent room. It also enjoys a large en-suite bathroom, where you can relax in the traditional style cast iron bath and listen to the birdsong. Hydrangeas feature prominently in the garden in various shades of blue, purple, pink and white, as well as in the soft furnishings in this room. Decorated in soft greens, greys and dark blue, this is a reassuring and calming space.

The room features free superfast WiFi, Nespresso machine, Roberts Radio, kettle and selection of teas and complimentary, all-natural Bramley toiletries.
